Motorcyclist dead after serious crash with at Willis Street intersection

A motorcyclist died after a serious crash at the intersection of Willis Street and East Road last Friday.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 56-year-old Matthew Cote of Middletown died later that day from serious injuries at Saint Francis Hospital. Cote, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was operating his 2013 Harley-Davidson Street Glide southbound on Willis Street, and was approaching the intersection of East Road when he was struck by 81-year-old Claire Nocera, who was not injured, the release said. Nocera was driving her 2001 Buick Century eastbound on East Road and stopped at a stop sign at the Willis Street intersection, the release said. This intersection is controlled by a two-way stop for vehicles traveling on East Road, according to the release.
Traffic officers from the Bristol Police START Unit are investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Traffic Division at (860) 584-3035.
