Police arrested two Bristol men early Monday morning and charged them with attempted theft of scrap metal from a business on Burlington Avenue.
Police said that at approximately 1:49 a.m., dispatch received. a complaint was made about a possible illegal entry and theft of merchandise from the grounds of Mastrobattisto Construction of 145 Burlington Ave. Officers arrived on the scene quickly and began investigating.
Police said the complainant said a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup had been spotted on the scene. Police stopped a vehicle matching this description at the intersection of Grove and Oakland Streets, which is near to Mastrobattisto.
The investigation of the officers revealed that scrap metal belonging to the business was located in the bed of this pickup.
Police arrest Pawel Lotkowski,24, of 41 Pardee St. in Bristol and Anthony J. Romano, 24, of 178 Maple St. in Bristol. They both were charged with larceny in the third degree, criminal trespass in the third degree and conspiracy to commit both charges.
Both individuals were released on non-surety bonds of $10,000 pending their court appearance at the Superior Court in Bristol on Aug. 25.
