A Bristol man was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle after he struck and killed a pedestrian by City Hall this past July.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 56-year-old Gary DeFilippe of Bristol was driving his vehicle southbound on North Main Street when he struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the street.
The pedestrian, 77-year-old John Levesque of Bristol, was found unconscious in the road, and died as a result of his injuries at a Hartford area hospital, according to a July 7 press release from police.
On Nov. 4, DeFilippe came to the police department to be processed for the following violations: failure to grant right of way to a pedestrian in a cross walk, negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, failure to exercise due care to avoid a pedestrian, traveling too fast for conditions and failure to have lights lit. He was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond, and is due in Bristol Superior Court on Nov. 14.
