Bristol police arrested and charged a woman after her two-year-old daughter was found wandering last night on Emmett Street in the Pine Street area.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 31-year-old Rachelle M. Collin of Bristol was charged with risk of injury to a minor.
Officers responded to the scene after the report of a concerned citizen, who was standing by the child, the release said. When Collin arrived, emergency responders evaluated her daughter, who was not injured during the incident, the release said. The child was then cleared and released to the family at the scene, the release said.
Collin told police that she left her daughter with a friend, but was not able to provide valid information to that friend, the release said. Further investigation did not confirm exactly how the child ended up on Emmett Street, but confirmed that she was last in her mother’s care, the release said.
Collin was released on a $25,000 bond, and is due in Bristol Superior Court on Feb. 16.
