Officers are investigating a serious two-crash that happened today at the intersection of Farmington Avenue and Collier Avenue.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 87-year-old Erich Woike was driving a 2003 Cadillac Deville northbound and stopped at the intersection of Farmington Avenue. Woike was struck by a vehicle heading west on Farmington Avenue when he entered the intersection, the release said. According to the release, 22-year-old
John Chiaradio was the driver of a 2016 Ford F350 pickup truck heading westbound.
After the collision, Woike was trapped in his vehicle before he was rescued by Bristol firefighters, the release said. Both Woike and Chiaradio received treatment at a Hartford area hospital, the release said. Woike was in serious condition with a head injury while Chiaradio was in good condition with an arm injury, the release said.
Currently, no enforcement action has been pursued. START (Serious Traffic Reconstruction Team) officers responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation.
