Bristol police have arrested and charged a man after report of a domestic based assault on Wednesday.
According to a news release from the Bristol Police Department, officers responded to 1204 Stafford Avenue where they found that a 37-year-old man had several wounds from an edged-type instrument. The victim was then transported to St. Francis Hospital, the release said. After the suspect fled the scene, officers began an immediate search for him, including a K-9 track, the release said.
Although not found immediately, the suspect, who has been identified as 35-year-old Aaron Werner, returned to the residence later that night while officers were still on the scene, the release said. After being told to stop, Werner led several officers on a brief chase into a wooded area and assaulted them, according to the release. The victim was later released from the hospital after treatment, the release said.
Werner was charged with first degree criminal attempt at assault, second degree assault, interfering with an emergency phone call and three counts of assault on a police officer. He was held on a $250,000 bond pending his arraignment at the Superior Court in Bristol.
