A robbery suspect on Farmington Avenue was arrested Wednesday evening after police gave chase on foot.
Police said that at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to Price Chopper, 121 Farmington Ave. on a complaint of a shoplifting. Officer later determined the incident was a robbery.
Devon Crussana, 28, of 820 (28) Stafford Ave. in Bristol was charged with robbery third degree, larceny sixth degree, interfering with a police officer, and criminal trespass first degree.
Police said that once at Price Chopper, an officer observed a suspect fitting the description supplied by the loss prevention officer for the store. Police said the officer shouted to the suspect, “Stop, Police.” However, the department said, the suspect continued running with the Bristol officer giving chase.
Police said the officer eventually tackled and caught the suspect as he ran behind houses on Burlington Avenue. Located on the suspect were the health and beauty products that were reported stolen from the store. Upon exiting the store, the suspect used force to push past the night manager who tried to detain the suspect.
Police said Crussana was previously informed by store authorities he was no longer permitted to be on the store property.
No one was injured during this incident and Crussana was held on a $25,000 bond pending his arraignment at G.A. 17 the Superior Court in Bristol.
