A Springfield, Mass. man was arrested on Saturday afternoon after police said he dragged a police officer along a moving car when he was stopped for a violation of a protective order.
Police arrested Mussa Mwanilelo, 24, of Springfield, Mass. He was charged with assault on an officer, interfering with an officer, reckless endangerment first degree, criminal violation of a restraining order, criminal trespass first degree, weapons in a motor vehicle, and breach of peace second degree. Police said he was held on a $250,000.00 bond.
Police said on Saturday, Aug. 30 at about 12:28 p.m., officers were called to 200 Blakeslee St., the Hunting Woods apartment complex, for a violation of a protective order complaint. The suspect was found in a vehicle within the complex. During the investigation, Mwanilelo attempted to flee in his vehicle, said police. An officer attempted to stop Mwanilelo, which resulted in Mwanilelo grabbing ahold of the arm of the officer, pulling the officer into the vehicle and driving off dragging the officer for a short distance. The officer was able to get free and suffered only minor injuries.
Police said Mwanilelo fled the area and was later located with assistance from the Farmington Police Department and Connecticut State Police in Hartford on I-84.
Mwanilelo was subsequently arrested and returned to the Bristol Police Department, said Bristol police.
