The driver of a box truck was sent to the hospital this morning after a serious accident at the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Willis Street.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, the box truck was traveling north on Willis Street around 9:30 this morning when it lost control of the truck and crashed into the Pequabuck River. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency was called to the scene, as diesel fuel from the truck leaked into the river, the release said.
The driver sustained minor injuries, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident, the release said. The westbound lane of the Boulevard was closed from Mellen Street to Main Street.
The accident remains under investigation.
