Bristol police found a 32-year-old man who had an outstanding arrest warrant that included drug charges and other charges.

According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, an officer attempted to detain a man walking in the area of Barber and Hawthorne Streets yesterday. This man, later identified as Stephen Michaud, of no certain address, gave the officer a false name and started to run away, the release said.

Two officers pursued Michaud on foot and were able to catch up and detain him briefly, but Michaud refused to submit to the arrest, proceeding to run again, the release said. Michaud jumped off a retaining wall on Pine Street, but officers pursued and eventually took him into custody, the release said.

Michaud was charged with interfering with an office and criminal impersonation, and was held on a $25,000 bond, the release said. The outstanding arrest warrant from Bristol charged Michaud with illegal possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, second degree forgery, three counts of interfering with an officer and two counts of criminal impersonation, the release said. The warrant was served with a $75,000 bond imposed by the court, and an additional arrest warrant for first degree failure to appear was found for Michaud, the release said. The warrant, which involved a New Britain police arrest, also was served with a $50,000 bond, the release said. Michaud was scheduled to appear at Bristol Superior Court this morning.
