Bristol police arrested and charged a man connected with a robbery that happened at the ALDI grocery store on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 35-year-old Derrell Tomberlin of no certain address was charged with second degree burglary and interfering with an officer. He was held on a $50,000 surety bond, and was due in Bristol Superior Court today, the release said.
Located at 110 Middle Street, ALDI was closed at the time of the incident, but employees were working inside the building, the release said. An employee heard a door alarm activated and upon investigation, found a rear door open and a man crouched inside the building, the release said. The suspect then fled on foot when the employee found him, the release said.
After receiving a physical description of the suspect and a video tape that caught the burglary on camera, officers found Tomberlin walking in the ALDI parking lot, the release said. Officers detained Tomberlin and learned that he was the same man captured on the video of the burglary, the release said. Tomberlin gave officers a false name and was subsequently identified through fingerprint records, the release said.
