The 2015 national Click It or Ticket (CIOT) seat belt enforcement mobilization kicks off Nov. 23 and will continue until Nov. 30.
With the Thanksgiving weekend coming up, state law enforcement agencies intend to promote safe driving and increase protection of all drivers, according to a press release from the Bristol Police Department. Law enforcement officials are out on Connecticut’s roads enforcing the State Occupant Protection laws and issuing citations to those who are unbuckled, the release said.
As a reminder, al front seat occupants in a vehicle must wear their safety seat belts, the release said. Only rear seat passengers under 16 years old are required to wear safety belts, the release said. If the driver of a vehicle is 16 or 17 years old, all occupants in the vehicle must wear safety belts, according to the release.
Although Click It or Ticket runs through the end of the month, drivers should know that officers are out enforcing seat belt laws year-round, the release said.
