A 21-year-old woman is suffering non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a projectile from a firearm in the Davis Drive area last night.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, the woman was in the area of Davis Drive at 8:05 p.m. when she was struck in the upper torso. Bristol Police discovered the assault when notified by personnel from New Britain General Hospital, the release said. Friends of the unidentified victim drove her to the hospital after she was struck, the release said. The wound was caused by either a pellet or a small caliber round, according to the release.
Both the Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions are investigating the incident.
