Bristol man arrested in connection with Harwinton robbery

A Bristol man was arrested in connection with a robbery of a convenience store in Harwinton.

State police said that on Sept. 7 at approximately 9:17 a.m., troopers from Troop L-Litchfield responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Dairy Mart, 157 Litchfield Rd., in Harwinton.

Upon arrival, police said troopers secured the scene and searched the area for suspects. None were located. Troopers initiated a criminal investigation where it was revealed that a white male suspect entered the store and brandished a knife, said police. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing the Dairy Mart.There were no reported injuries.

Police said suspect, a white male believed to be in his early 20’s, was last seen entering the front passenger seat of a white sedan that was waiting in the parking lot. The white sedan was reported to be occupied by three other males.

Eventually, police said detectives were able to identify a suspect in connection with the armed robbery.

On Sept. 10, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the accused who was subsequently located and taken into custody with the assistance of the Southington Police Department.

The accused was transported to Troop L – Litchfield where he was processed and held on bond.

Andrew C. Doty of 8 Burton St., Bristol were arrested and charged with furst degree robbery and fourth degree larceny.

He appeared in Bantam Superior Court Sept. 11. His bond was set at $200,000.
