Mayor Ken Cockayne announced the Bristol Police Department will be conducting speed enforcement traps next week on selected secondary roads within the city to help curb speeding and other unsafe driving habits in the city’s neighborhoods.

“With the next school year getting ready to begin, my office has been inundated with complaints from residents regarding excessive speeding in their neighborhoods,” the mayor said in a press release. “ It is my hope that this operation will force motorists to slow down and take notice of speed limits on our secondary roads.”

Any resident concerned about speeding in their neighborhood is asked to call the Bristol Police Department Traffic Division at (860)584-3030 so appropriate action can be taken.

“This operation will go on periodically without notice for the next few months,” the mayor said, according to the press release, “The safety of our children and their families are the driving factor for the implementation of this traffic operation.”
