Bristol police have arrested and charged a man who reportedly smashed his vehicle into Club Fitness last Sunday.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 29-year-old Lemar Ranger of Shelton drove into the building on Middle Street, where he entered the gym and caused a major disturbance. Officers then found Ranger acting very irrational before taking him into custody, the release said. He damaged various parts of the building, such as computers, displays, mirrors, lighting and food products, the release said. The cost of the damage made to the gym and equipment in the building was estimated to be $15,000, according to the release.
During the disturbance, no other injuries were reported, the release said. At the time of the incident, Ranger was sent to an area hospital for an evaluation, the release said. On Tuesday, Ranger entered police headquarters, and was arrested and charged. He was charged with first degree criminal mischief, second degree reckless endangerment and second degree breach of peace.
Ranger was held on a court ordered surety bond of $5,000.
